| Exodus' overland journey
through the Americas takes nine months. But the trip from Alaska
to Venezuela is split into sectors so you can join at any point
and stay as long as you like.
Some long driving days - with up to 11 hours in
the truck - are interspersed with the opportunity to take
photos of scenery and wildlife. On route, you can participate
in activities such as white water rafting, hiking, surfing, mountain
biking and dancing.
Overlanding is not for everyone, says Ian
Dicken of Exodus.
It is a self-sufficient participatory holiday.
Everyone shops, cooks and puts up tents.
Leaders are not tour guides, but they do know the
best places to go and can tell you where to meet local people.
They can also advise on how to respect the environment and local
communities.
Even when unforeseen hazards, such as blocked roads
and mechanical difficulties, delay the overland journey, they
add colour to the experience and to your memories.
Sectors across the Americas include:
