| White water rafting
is exhilarating and a good way of making friends while working together
in a team. It is also a fun way of visiting some of the world's
most scenic places that are sometimes otherwise unreachable.
For white water rafting, you need to be reasonably
physically fit. Sections of each river are classed according to
the strength of rapids and other criteria, so make sure the trip
suits your level.
Here are just a few places you can visit:
In Europe, Exodus
combines rafting with other water activities on a Scandinavian wilderness
adventure holiday in Norway and a flexi-activity
break in Slovenia.
In the US, Kern
River Outfitters has rafting for different levels of ability
on various sections of the river Kern in the Sequoia National Forest,
which is about three hours from Los Angeles in California.
Similarly, New Zealand has many
short, fast-flowing rivers. These offer a range of rafting experiences
that can be enjoyed safely by most adults, according to the Tourism
New Zealand website.
India offers rafting in the wilderness.
Adventure
Whitewater has a rafting expedition on the Zanskar river. More
than half the journey passes through an otherwise inaccessible gorge.
Also in India, High
and Wild has a rafting expedition along the Brahmaputra river
in November 2005. The company says only three expeditions have ever
commercially rafted the Brahmaputra before.
In South America, Water
by Nature's rafting on Chile's Futaleufu river
is 'dominated by snow-capped volcanoes and rich rain forest before
arriving at the coastal town of Chalten'.
