Too much luggage?
Did I need to bring it all?
Who does he think he is? Of course I need it. I've
only included the bare essentials: Cycling gear. Evening wear. Things
to give the Cubans I meet. My Spanish books. A puncture repair kit.
Can't fix a puncture myself, but it looks good.
The brochure said that luggage would be transported
to each overnight stop, leaving participants free to cycle.
Cuba is the most exciting country ever. Cubans seem
so poor, yet they're always smiling. Friendly. Eager to chat, but
not overwhelming. Not selling you things all the time, like in some
places. I feel safe here, and at home.
They're fun, the people cycling with me. A few are
a bit too keen, but that's what I expected. I think it's going to
be a good trip.
