Andorra has invested more than £100 million since 1995 to remain a major winter sports destination for families, in the face of new competition from countries like Bulgaria.

Improvements include new hotels and high-speed chair lifts, linked ski areas, better signposts on the slopes and more snow-making machines.

The 468 sq km pyrenean principality can be reached by a daily bus service from Toulouse (196 km away in France) and Barcelona (210 km away in Spain).

Its two main regions are Grandvalira and Vallnord.
