Haunted
houses, ghostly tours and spooky walks all make for a fun day or
weekend out in the UK.
The
National Trust is to publish Ghosts, a book of unnerving
tales about its properties, such as the Avebury World Heritage Site
in Wiltshire and Corfe Castle in Dorset, where a headless body of
a woman is said to stalk the battlements.
Websites like theshadowlands.net/places/uk.htm
have stories of ghosts in castles, houses, abbeys, churches and
hotels. Others provide holidays in spooky places.
Dalhousie
Castle in Scotland is said to have three ghosts, for example.
Edinburgh
has its fair share of hauntings. Visit Edinburgh
Castle, the Real
Mary King's Close or The
Dungeons, then take a Witchery
Tour.
For a day out elsewhere in the UK, try a walking
tour in Nottingham with Ghost
Walks or following the Walking with Witches trail in
Pendle in Lancashire.
