Skiing
in the US is a remarkably different experience from skiing in Europe,
according to Alex from Breckenridge in Colorado's rocky mountains.
Queues for the lifts are few and orderly. Mountains
are high with good light and sunshine. Snow is powdery. And there
is little ice.
In addition, many US ski resorts have been laid
out specifically so they offer a good infrastructure.
Colorado's rocky mountain resorts, such as Vail, Beaver
Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone,
have more than 300 days of sunshine per year. Visitors can ski 11,000
acres of terrain with a single Colorado lift pass.
Vail has a large terrain with many trails and evergreen
trees. Beaver Creek Mountain has three base villages -
Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead. The town of Breckenridge
was founded in 1859 and has a large historic district. Keystone
is good for groomed trails, bumps, steep slopes and glade terrain.
