| Earthdive
is asking recreational scuba divers to help preserve the health
and diversity of coral reefs and oceans.
The company is developing a Global Dive Log in partnership
with the United Nations
Environment Programme, Coral
Cay Conservation and marine biologists.
Earthdive wants to promote responsible diving and
to raise awareness of the need for a more sustainable marine environment.
Divers and snorkellers can
record sightings of key indicator species and human induced pressures
via online logbooks into the Global Dive Log.
Observations of illegal trade in endangered species
are also recorded, which are then passed on to TRAFFIC,
the wildlife trade monitoring network.
