Longleat
was not only the first stately home to open its doors to the public,
but also the first drive-through safari park to open outside Africa.
It still offers a fun family day out, with animals, attractions
and activities.
The safari park, which is near Warminster in Wiltshire,
UK, is home to lions, giraffe, zebra, monkeys and many other animals
from Africa and elsewhere. You can drive through or take a safari
boat tour past gorilla island, where you might see Nico and Samba
watching their satellite television. You will certainly meet the
Californian sealions, who swim alongside the boat in the hope that
visitors will throw them some fish treats.
Other attractions include a railway, an adventure
castle and the Longleat hedge maze.
A passport ticket includes entry to the safari park
and attractions (£18 for adults/ £14 for children under
14 years and senior citizens).
