- In countries where sanitation may be poor, it
is advisable not to drink tap water unless it has been purified.
Boil water, or use water purification tablets. Avoid ice and cleaning
teeth with potentially contaminated water.
- Eat only recently prepared food that is thoroughly
cooked and served piping hot.
- Avoid raw or undercooked seafood, shellfish and
meat.
- Avoid unpasturised dairy products, food that
has been standing in lukewarm cabinets, and uncooked fruit and
vegetables unless you peel them yourself.
- Avoid salads and other food grown close to the
ground that may have been contaminated during watering.
- To steer clear of fizzy drinks and keep waste
to a minimum, before you travel buy a strong water bottle that
you can reuse again and again.
